Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse is a young adult contemporary romance that takes place in Tokyo, Japan. I loved the setting of this book. I bet Tokyo is such a vibrant and alive city. I thought it made the perfect place for a week of crazy adventures for these friends.
I loved the way the book was set up. Sofia, or Sofa to her friends (I hated her nickname!) lives in Tokyo and goes to an American academy there while her mom is teaching at a university. But the book starts out when she only has seven days left until she leaves, and the chapters start off with countdowns until her departure. It kind of reminded me of The Night we Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi. I really liked the flow of the book. It is about a group of friends that all have secrets and crushes and their own drama, but the romance was actually super cute. There were some light family issues thrown in to keep things interesting and plenty of teenage group of friends drama, but overall this was a light and quick read.
It made me want to visit Tokyo. That is for sure. I have one major holdup with Seven Days of You. It is the reason I didn’t rate this one higher, but it is a major spoiler. View Spoiler » I believe Seven Days of You is a standalone contemporary novel, but I am really really hoping that there is another book in the works because this one felt unfinished to me. I want to see more.
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a realistic contemporary book in a really cool setting, you should pick up Seven Days of You. I enjoyed this one.

I like books with a setting in Japan/Nepal/Brazil other Asian or South American countries. A foreign setting always makes the twists and turns more interesting.

I totally concur with you on your spoiler. This is the type of book that I should have gone gaga for. I liked it very much, don’t get me wrong, but it did that contemporary thing that I hate. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the journey, loved Jamie, and got a fantastic tour of Tokyo.
