When Rebecca Peterson walks away from everything she knows to follow her dreams in Ireland, she never expects to be thrown into a world of vicious Fae and deadly secrets. On the dreary streets of Belfast, her terrifying nightmares are rekindled, and this time they aren't confined to her imagination. Complicating her life further, Becca crosses paths with two mysterious strangers—both alluring in different ways, but are either of them to be trusted?

Her journey takes her deep into the treacherous Shadow Lands, where both her knowledge and courage will be tested. Navigating this new landscape of deceit and manipulation is paramount if she is to stop hordes of blood-thirsty Faeries from invading Earth. With time running out, will her limited training be enough to take on a centuries old enemy hell-bent on death and destruction? To keep those she loves safe, Becca is willing to risk it all.

In this captivating duet, Jill Ramsower takes her readers from the streets of Belfast on a harrowing journey to the most dangerous corners of Faery, where fear is a lethal enemy and trust is a luxury few can afford.

Author's Note: This is not a Young Adult book! There is mild adult language and scenes with mature content.

NA Review My Thoughts

The Fae Games Duet is a new adult fantasy romance by Jill Ramsower. I love a bundle set like this because it is perfect for people that want to read books 1 and 2 back to back and have the completed duet in one place. I binged this bad boy in just a day and a half. I honestly could not put it down. The Fae Games Duet includes book one, Shadow Play and book two, Twilight Siege. I liked the second book more than the first book, but that is only because I felt like the first book took a little bit of time to get the story moving. But once the foundation was laid and the story started progressing, I was totally sucked into this world. I wish there were going to be more books that follow our main character, Becca. There is a third book that follows a different character, that I am interested in but I also want to see more of Becca and Lochlan.

In the first book we see Becca get offered a job at a museum in Belfast, which seems to be a job that is too good to be true. Once she arrives in Belfast, Becca quickly starts to notice some strange creatures around her, which leads her a world of fae living in Ireland. Some parts of the story were pretty predictable for me, but when we got to the second book, there were a few twists and turns that took me by surprise, which I loved. I loved getting to know Becca and getting to know more about the world of the Fae (and the really cool twist, intertwining the fae with Arthurian legend) and I loved so many of the characters. I found myself wishing that we would get to see some more from Lochlan and Ronan’s perspective throughout the series. I love to see multiple perspectives, especially when a book features so many secrets. I really loved traveling to the twilight realm. I found that to be really, really interesting. The romance in both of the books is good. I really loved the romantic interest, but being a lover of romance myself, I did find myself hoping for a little more from that front. I would love to see a side novella or a part of Ashley’s story that revisits the romance of Becca and her guy.

If you are a fan of fantasy books that feature fae, I think the Fae Games will be a duet that you will love. It features great characters, a nice romance, and plenty of action and adventure. Both of these books were a hit for me. I would love to jump back into this world for another adventure, even though the second book does wrap things up quite nicely. The Fae Games is an excellent read.
