Another day, another step closer to Hell on Earth being unleashed.

With every piece that falls into place for the queen of the Underworld, Kymaris gains strength and power that will make it more difficult to defeat her when the time comes. It feels as if we’re in a desperate race to get just one step ahead of her, but my demise feels closer than it ever has before with still so much to do.

The first order of business is to unlock the angelic powers with which I was gifted at birth, and Carrick insists on getting help from my archnemesis to do so. Yes, I have to save the world, but my priority has now become rescuing my sister from the Underworld. While there are many questions still to be answered about my long-lost twin, I know I will not win this battle without her by my side.

In the midst of all the doom and gloom, Carrick has become my beacon of shining light. Our connection unimaginable, my heart recognizes his as the other half of its whole. Inexplicable and deeper than one could ever imagine, the love I hold for him is forged by destiny, however ill-fated it may turn out to be.

And those are the feelings I must hold close…to keep me going. Because a painful lesson is on the horizon—betrayal never comes from your enemies.

A Battle of Blood and Stone is book four of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.

Also in this series: The Revelation of Light and Dark, A Discovery of Secrets and Fate , The Evolution of Fae and Gods, The Rise of Fortune and Fury

NA Review My Thoughts

*Note: This is the fourth book in a series that is best enjoyed if read in order. If you are new to the series, you can check out my review of book one HERE and book two HERE and book three HERE*

A Battle of Blood and Stone is the fourth book in the new adult/adult fantasy romance series, called Chronicles of the Stone Veil, by Sawyer Bennett. I am totally obsessed with this series. If you are a fan of adult fantasies featuring fae and demons, then this is a must read series for you. And now is the perfect time to pick up the books if you are new to the series because the fifth and final book is set to release on May 4, 2021! If you love to binge read, this is a great series for you to pick up. I really have enjoyed it and I am desperate for the last book.

A Battle of Blood and Stone picks up right where The Evolution of Fae and Gods left off, on that heck of a cliffhanger. View Spoiler » Getting the Blood Stone and trying to figure out a way to defeat Kymaris is what this whole installment is about. I do have to say that for the first time in all four of the books, I felt like the plot in this one dragged a bit. It kind of felt like filler. I wanted more romance, or more action. More something. I was interested in learning about the Blood Stone and I am still super into the series, but this was probably my least favorite book so far. I know it is all culminating into a fantastic ending installment and I still loved this book, just maybe not quite as much as the first three.

Like with the past books, most of the chapters are from still from Finley’s point of view, but every once in a while we will get a Carrick chapter.  I love the Carrick chapters most of all, and I always looking for more of them. I am so invested in these characters and them beating the prophecy. I need the next book because I need to see how they will work their way out of this situation, and I want more Finley and Carrick. I just love the two of them so much! I am hoping for victory and romance in the final installment because Finley and Carrick deserve it!

Bottom line: Fans of fantasies featuring light and dark fae set in our world will devour the Chronicles of the Stone Veil. It is one of my favorite series of 2021 so far. I am split between wanting to devour book 5 right now, and not wanting this series to end! But either way, more people need to read this series. It is fantastic!

About Sawyer Bennett

USA Today Best-Selling author, Sawyer Bennett, is a snarky southern woman and reformed trial lawyer who decided to finally start putting on paper all of the stories that were floating in her head. She is married to a mobster (well, a market researcher) and they have two big, furry dogs who hog the bed. Sawyer would like to report she doesn’t have many weaknesses but can be bribed with a nominal amount of milk chocolate.
