Perfect for fans of Geekerella and Jenn Bennett, this charming, sparkly rom-com follows a wish-granting teen forced to question if she’s really doing good—and if she has the power to make her own dreams come true.
Charity is a fairy godmother. She doesn’t wear a poofy dress or go around waving a wand, but she does make sure the deepest desires of the student population at Jack London High School come true. And she knows what they want even better than they do because she can glimpse their perfect futures.
But when Charity fulfills a glimpse that gets Vibha crowned homecoming queen, it ends in disaster. Suddenly, every wish Charity has ever granted is called into question. Has she really been helping people? Where do these glimpses come from, anyway? What if she’s not getting the whole picture?
Making this existential crisis way worse is Noah—the adorkable and (in Charity’s opinion) diabolical ex of one of her past clients—who blames her for sabotaging his prom plans and claims her interventions are doing more harm than good. He demands that she stop granting wishes and help him get his girl back. At first, Charity has no choice but to play along. But soon, Noah becomes an unexpected ally in getting to the bottom of the glimpses. Before long, Charity dares to call him her friend…and even starts to wish he were something more. But can the fairy godmother ever get the happily ever after?

Glimpsed is a young adult standalone contemporary romance/magical realism by G.F. Miller. I loved Glimpsed so much! It is such an adorable read and I don’t hear enough people talking about it. I have not given out too many 5 star ratings in 2021 yet and Glimpsed is one of my 5 star reads! I think this book is perfect for readers of so many different genres- romantic comedies, contemporaries, paranormal, magical realism. It is a smile in book form. If you have not heard of Glimpsed, you should really check it out.
In Glimpsed, we meet our main character, Charity. Charity is a fairy godmother, and she loves granting wishes. I loved Charity and throughout the story, I really appreciated her character’s growth. When Charity encounters someone who needs a wish granted, she feels a strong compulsion until she helps them. She gets glimpses of what they want and she works with them to accomplish it- after she swears them to secrecy of course. When Charity helps a girl get her crush to notice her, someone else gets hurt in the process. The girl has a crush of his own, and he is very upset when his friend starts dating someone he thinks is totally wrong for her. Noah starts investigating and he finds out that Charity is the common link between all kinds of weird occurrences.
I love Noah. When he points out to Charity that most of her past wishes have gone awry, Charity is shocked and more than a little upset. So the two of them embark on a quest to not only set right the past wrongs, but also to help Noah. And along the way, something super magical happens. I loved the romance in Glimpsed. It had me goofy smiling more times than I can count. Noah is beyond adorkable and I was rooting for him to get his happy ending even more than Charity. This book is screaming to be made into a netflix movie. I think it would be the perfect rom com. If you are a fan of adorable stories that will have you rooting for the characters, and will put you in a better mood, Glimpsed is the perfect book to check out. I loved the touch of magical realism in the story, but most of all I just loved this cute love story. Glimpsed is one of my favorite reads of 2021 so far!
