What you see isn’t always what you get. What you want isn’t always what you need. Sometimes a woman’s safest in the arms of a dangerous man.
Who was more fun to write? Jace or Vivienne? Why?
Definitely Jace. For some reason, his scenes flowed very easily. But then, he’d also been taking up space in my head for a year before he finally got screen time.
What do you do when you get writers block?
It depends on what stage of the book I’m in. Sometimes the answer is as simple as a change in writing environment or a glass of wine. (There’s some truth to, “Write drunk, edit sober.”) Most of the time, though, if I can just write something—even if it’s my grocery list—my words will start coming. The trick is to knuckle down and type.
What are the hardest kind of scenes for you to write?
Sex scenes. Always. Fight scenes are a close second because of the “choreography,” but sex scenes have the choreography and emotion to contend with. And let’s face if—if the emotion isn’t there, not even creative positioning will make it worth the read.
What were some of your favorite books you read in 2016?
So, I’m exercising a little latitude and focusing on my favorites read in 2016 versus released in 2016. The first one that came to mind was Kristen Ashley’s WALK THROUGH FIRE because it literally made me stay up all night reading (and crying in certain parts). Throughout the year, I enjoyed Audrey Carlan’s CALENDAR GIRL series, and I devoured Kresley Cole’s THE PLAYER about five seconds after it released. Oh, I also finally finished Tiffany Reisz’s THE ORIGINAL SINNERS series (which was awesome), and started Nalini Singh’s ROCK KISS Series (also awesome)!
What are some trends in books you are hoping to see more of in 2017?
I love contemporary romance—the edgier and dirtier the better, but I sure would like to see more fresh, well-written paranormals. Especially if they were edgy and dirty, too! (Best of both worlds, right?)
If we had an author talent show, what would your talent be?
