Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.
In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

NA ReviewMy Thoughts

Hold My Breath is a true standalone, New adult contemporary romance by Ginger Scott. And boy does this novel pack a punch. I was not expecting it to be as deeply emotional as it was. The story tugged on my heartstrings right from the very start and honestly it didn’t let go until the end. Will and Maddy’s story had my heart in a vice grip long after it was done. And that was what I liked most about this story. If you like heart-wrenching reads with a beautiful romance, you should check out Hold My Breath. This one surprised me.

Hold my Breath is told in dual narrative between the main characters, Will and Maddy. They have a shared history between their two swimming families. Maddy used to date Will’s brother Evan until a tragic event happens that affected his whole family, leaving will to try and pick up the pieces all by himself. This story deals with the aftermath of that event and also how Will and Maddy move forward, together. I loved this story, and I don’t want to say too much else that might spoil it for the readers because their journey will affect you on a very deep personal level. At least, it did for me.

I didn’t really know how I was going to like Will or Maddy at the start of the story. Will is very troubled and I didn’t know how he would manifest all the guilt and weight he was shouldered, and Maddy was hard to get a good read on as well. She is a runner for sure. However, as the story unfolded, I was pleasantly surprised at each of their character development. Ginger Scott does an excellent job telling both Maddy and Will’s story. The writing in Hold My Breath is beautiful. I really enjoyed this book, and I think it would be perfect for fans of standalone romance novels that do not shy away from the tough emotions. This is not a light and fluffy read by any stretch of the imagination. Readers that like books dealing with tough issues, stories that will really tug on your heartstrings and take you on an emotional roller coaster ride, will love Hold Your Breath. It is quite the journey.

I enjoy reading emotional stories, especially ones with great characters to root for as they go through their struggles. Thanks for the review.

It seems like the cover does not really convey how serious the book really is. It sounds good.
