Fevered Souls Book 2 is a bind up of episode numbers 4, 5, and 6 in the Fevered Souls serial by S.K. Falls. I read, and mostly, enjoyed book 1 (which was a bind up of episodes 1-3) about 2 years ago on my blog. (review here) I liked the first volume well enough, but I wasn’t over the moon excited about it and as I recall the characters grated on my nerves, which is why I put off reading the second book for so long.
I liked the second book, but I didn’t love it. In fact, I was kind of meh about the whole thing. Each serial reads pretty quickly, and has a dramatic vampire/demon soap opera feel to it. The episode read quick and have a flair for the dramatic, as well as a healthy dose of romance.
The characters stayed largely the same from the first three episodes. It kind of felt like I was watching a later season of a show that has tons of seasons, the plots all start to feel similar.
If you love dramatic paranormal soap opera-y romances, then definitely check out this series. You can easily read an episode in an hour or so and there are plenty of episodes written for you to get your fill. I don’t know if I will be continuing this series because it doesn’t do very much for me. I wasn’t excited to read it. But I am the weirdo here because people on goodreads LOVE this series. It has a 4.33 star rating!

Discussion: Books You Feel Meh About
Today I wanted to chat about reviewing “meh” books. Personally, these are the hardest kind of books for me to write an actual review on. Really great books and books that I really didn’t like are much easier, because there are normally reasons why you loved or didn’t like a book. But books that I feel Meh about are typically books that don’t inspire many feelings at all in me. There wasn’t anything particularly bad about it that I can point to and say, that is why I didn’t like the story. But on the flip side there wasn’t exactly anything wonderful that I can gush about either.
Take the above review for example. I sat and stared at my post screen for almost 30 straight minutes and that is all I could come up with. And I had to drag each and every one of those sentences out of me because I just had no idea what to say. This is pretty much me the whole time I think about writing a review for a “meh” book. I do a lot of shrugging when I go through :

You know? There just isn’t really too much for me to say. The book was just there. And just because a book was Meh for me doesn’t mean that I disliked it necessarily. My meh books can range anywhere from 2.5 stars to 3.5 stars, meaning that even some books that I give “good” ratings too leave me kind of vacant when it comes to writing the review. It takes me forever just to figure out what to say. Especially if the meh book is a second or third in a series. I normally never have anything new to say because none of my feelings change and the characters/plot are usually stagnant.
Am I the only one? Do you guys have this problem? What are the hardest books for you to review? I want to know!

I agree that it is the hardest to review MEH books — probably because there are usually stand out things that make you either love or really dislike a book and those are easy to talk about in a review!

At least you gave this a second chance and now know it just isn’t for you. Maybe I’m picky but anymore I really do want to be hooked and blown away when I read, maybe because it seems I have less time than I normally do and like those hours to be filled with some wow instead of meh. 😉

UGH MEH BOOKS!! They are the worst to review. I struggle so hard with the meh review. I would rather review a book I HATED than a book I didn’t care about.

I feel the same ways about meh books. I’ve read recently a few meh books and almost feel compelled to review them anyway. But I don’t want my blog in infancy to fall to having a ton of 3 stared books that I just reviewed because I had to add content >.<
