{Review} Calling Me Back by Louise Bay @LouisesBay

{Review} Calling Me Back by Louise Bay @LouisesBay

Calling Me Back is the first in a three part novella series. Part three, and the complete series set, just released yesterday, so if you are like me and like to have the option of reading all parts of a series or serial back to back (to back) this is the time to grab the complete set. I love Louise Bay’s serial romances. She somehow manages to fit what feels like a whole story in just over 100 pages. These stories and series, are great romantic pick me ups. I read, and totally LOVED her New York series, which was set up in the same format- a three part serial. The Calling me Series is a spin off of Louise’s What the Lightning See’s series, which focuses on Jake and Haven. I haven’t read What the Lightning Sees yet, but it is on my To Be Read List. And now that I know they are secondary characters in the Calling Me series, I am even more excited to read their… Read more »

{Review} Goddess by Julie Anne Lindsey @juliealindsey @lyricalpress

{Review} Goddess by Julie Anne Lindsey @juliealindsey @lyricalpress

Goddess is the second book in the new adult mythology Calypso series. Prophecy was one of my favorite books of 2014. I loved it so hard that I was pretty much besides myself when I saw Goddess come out on netgalley. This is a series that needs to be read in order, so run, don’t walk and pick up the first book if you have not already done so. In order to fully appreciate this book, you need to read Prophecy first. I have seen a few reviews from people that said the book didn’t capture their attention, but then they also said that they didn’t read the first book. I think that is the rub right there. Book one gives you so much background on the characters that by the time book two rolls around you are already in love. (or at least I was.) And because of this love, I was able to put their stubbornness and block-head moments in perspective a bit better. If you remember from… Read more »

{Release Day Review} The Darkest Frost: Vol 2 by Tanya Holmes @shesawriterth

{Release Day Review} The Darkest Frost: Vol 2 by Tanya Holmes @shesawriterth

The Darkest Frost Volume 2 is the second and last book in a two book series of the same name by author, Tanya Holmes. I loved part one SO SO much. When I finished the first book, I needed to have the second book. It was all I could think about for days. I was so anxious to start reading that I refreshed my kindle probably 5 times waiting for my review copy to get synced. And then I proceeded to ignore 3 other days of review books so I could read the darkest Frost. This is just one of those books that made me forget the world. The second volume brought a lot of character development and insight that we were able to fully flesh out in the first book because of all the secrets. I loved looking into the brothers past and getting to know them so much better. This is the second half of a duology that needs to be read together, so I can’t really say… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} Tyed by L J Shen

{Review+Giveaway} Tyed by L J Shen

Tyed is the first book in the new adult California Love Series by author L. J. Shen. I don’t have the opportunity to read very many fighting books. It isn’t that I dislike them, but normally I don’t feel the appeal in the summary. But when I read the description of Tyed, I felt drawn to the book and the characters, which is always an excellent start. The idea that Blaire was the less successful and somehow not as pretty twin of a supermodel seemed like such an intriguing idea to me. Where was that going to go? And could it really be true? I wanted to find out. Plus reviews were saying great things about Ty, and I love a strong alpha male character. Ty and Blaire were a treat to read. I could not put Tyed down. Sure there was alpha dominance and strength with huge fights, as well as insecurity issues with Blaire. Those were the things that I expected- they were the obvious aspects of the… Read more »

{Giveaway} Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

{Giveaway} Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

Welcome to my stop on the Spooktacular Giveaway hop. This hop is hosted by I am a Reader. I love Halloween for many reasons. 1) it is the start of fall and of cooler weather, and I love fall. And 2) as I mentioned in a recent post I am not much of a seasonal reader. I can read a “beach read” any time of year. But there is one big exception to this rule. I start to crave creepy horror, thriller and paranormal books right around this time of year. And it was around that idea that I made my prize for this giveaway. One winner will get a copy of Catacomb by Madeleine Roux but that is not enough for my wonderful followers! In addition to Catacomb, I am putting together a nice little (well, big actually) MYSTERY BOX OF BOOKS! There will be mostly young adult books in the box but maybe with a new adult or adult book thrown in. I am also mixing up the genres of books…. Read more »

{Review} Touch Me Not by Apryl Baker

{Review} Touch Me Not by Apryl Baker

Touch Me Not is the first in a new, new adult contemporary romance series by Apryl Baker. It is called the manwhore series, named after the main character Nikoli. I had a hot and cold relationship with this book. The start was very, very bumpy for me. The book eventually picked up momentum and became more enjoyable for me, but the start had me wavering on just what I would say in my review. Let me try and explain. Touch Me Not overall, is a fun and sexy new adult read. It has so many elements in it that I love- a bet, great chemistry, and a college setting. And the romance really did build up into something really great for me. I even ended up liking Nikoli, but not at the beginning. And not for the typical, oh he is a total pig reasons. I would have been fine with that. My main issue is that the characters seemed one dimensional to me. I don’t know how to describe… Read more »

{ARC Review} Signs Point to Yes by Sandy Hall @SwoonReads @iamsandyhall

{ARC Review} Signs Point to Yes by Sandy Hall @SwoonReads @iamsandyhall

Signs Point to Yes is an adorable, or adorkable as the summary calls it, young adult contemporary romance. If it is starting to get cooler where you are, Signs Point to Yes is the perfect book to have you feeling like you are back in summer. Or, if you are like me, it is a great book for any time of the year. Jane is a high school girl just trying to figure out what she wants to do next with her life. Instead of going to work at a college, like her mom wants, Jane signs up to be a nanny for a neighbor and their little girls. I loved that Jane didn’t know what would come after high school for her. I think a lot of times in books we see characters that knew exactly what they wanted out of life and were laser focused on it. Which is great! I was like that. My mom said I knew I wanted to be a lawyer in middle school,… Read more »

This book is so cool you guys! If you have a youngster in your life, they need this book. Each state has all kinds of cool facts and a beautiful map. {Weekly Wrap Up} Weeks of October 1- 12th

Sunday Post is Hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves is Hosted by Tynga’s Reviews Hey guys! How has your week been? I have had a whirlwind of emotions this past week. You may have remembered me talking about one of my dogs, Harry. He is my baby. A few years ago he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and he was given a few months to a few years. He is 14 years old now, and last week he took a very quick turn for the worse. I drove home last Sunday night. The poor baby couldn’t keep food or water down, and he was coughing up something terrible. I stayed up with him all night rubbing his chest every time he coughed. Neither one of us got one moment of sleep. I felt so bad for him. We took him to the vet Monday morning, and I thought that was it. I thought his cancer had spread. The vet took some xrays and came back… Read more »

{Review+Giveaway} An Inheritance of Ashes by @LeahBobet

{Review+Giveaway} An Inheritance of Ashes by @LeahBobet

An Inheritance of Ashes is a standalone young adult fantasy. The book takes place after a war has ended. A war between humans, the Wicked God and Twisted Things. That right there should tell you one thing about this book. It is going to be creepy. And honestly the chilling atmosphere that Leah Bobet created was my favorite aspect of An Inheritance of Ashes. Fans of atmospheric reads, will love that about this book. I am not going to lie, the first time that I read the summary, and started the book for that matter, for An Inheritance of Ashes, I thought it was a sequel. It is describing a war that just took place, and I thought I missed the first book that had the war in it. So if you are like me, that is not the case. An Inheritance of Ashes is the first book. Hallie and Marthe are sister’s, and they are the main characters of this book. They are taking place of the family farm in the… Read more »
