Series: The Deathwind Trilogy #1
Genres: Fantasy & Magic, Love & Romance, Science Fiction, Weather, Young Adult
Forget the beach. Forget the teacup ride at Disney World. Sixteen-year-old Allie's going on the vacation of her life: tornado chasing. What can possibly go wrong with that?
A terrifying, magical experience leaves Allie shocked and confused. Once she returns from her summer break, she learns that she now bears an awful curse. She isn't an ordinary girl anymore.
Every time there's a storm, she turns into a tornado. Literally.
Allie has no choice but to flee her hometown--if she stays, her new powers could harm or even kill everyone she loves.
With her best friend, Tommy, Allie must return to the plains and find those who made her this way. But her quest to save herself is only the beginning of her adventure. She discovers a society where others share her curse, including a kid named Dorian who hates his elemental abilities just as much as she does. Not only must she risk everything to face those who turned her, but getting close to Dorian will pose its own dangers--dangers that could decide her fate.

Twisted is the first book of the Deathwind Trilogy, a new young adult and teen paranormal romance series. The second book, Torn, is also available. Book Three of the Deathwind Trilogy, Unleashed, will be released in Summer of 2015.
1. Describe Twisted in a Tweet. (140 characters or less)
Allie’s tornado chasing trip changes her forever in a way she never expected…
2. What kind of research did you do in preparation of Twisted?
I watched lots and lots of tornado videos on Youtube and of course read everything I could about these storms. I’ve always had a fascination with tornadoes which helped me begin the book in the first place.
3. Tornado Chasing is kind of a “daredevil” type hobby. Are you a daredevil as well or more cautious?
It depends. A big part of me would like to try that. However, I’m scared to death of icy roads and get sick at the thought of driving on them.
4. What were some of your favorite YA books from 2014?
I (sadly) haven’t had that much time to read this year due to writing and maintaining a full time job, but Reflection Pond by Kacey Vanderkarr was pretty good.
5. Which of your characters can you relate to the most and why?
Definitely Allie. She’s pretty much how I was when I was in junior high and high school, with weird interests that no one else could relate to.
6. What is the hardest part about being an author?
I think the hardest part is carving out time to write and promote when you also have a full time job. It’s not easy to sit down and knock out 1,000 words after a ten hour work day.
7. If we had an author talent show, what would your talent be?
Does holding cats and typing at the same time count? They never like to let me write.

Me: umm, absolutely that counts! Cats always try to scratch me up when I hold them, so I am already impressed 🙂 Thanks so much for being here today Holly!

I have been fascinated with tornadoes ever since watching the movie Twister, they really are a force of nature, both beautiful and horrifying!
Wonderful review, this sounds like a great read and I love how original it sounds.
