All publicity is good publicity, right? Unless you’re recent college grad Ellie Wagner and an embarrassing video of you and your boyfriend goes viral. Every man in your life abandons you, but who knew a one-minute clip of your latest doomed relationship would brand you a slut, prevent you from getting your perfect job, and force you to keep doing the one thing you swore you’d never do again…live with your mother.

But staying with mom and her latest boy-toy (is this husband number four or five?) until your life turns around might not be all bad. Especially when you fall – literally – at the feet of a sexy, green-eyed stranger who offers you freedom and a life of luxury on a gold-rimmed platter.

There’s only one little problem – the man of your dreams is none other than Mason Nash, the latest hip-hop star busting up the music charts. Fame and fortune are his calling cards and he’s vying to steal the show on a new reality TV series that will catapult him into mainstream stardom. Hello spotlight.

The man behind the famous persona is perfect for Ellie in every way, but can she overcome the ugly pitfalls that come with Mason's celebrity status? Or will she be forced to choose between the man she loves and the independent life she longs for? After all, fame and fortune aren’t always what they seem and not all publicity is good publicity…

NA Review My Thoughts

You know when you just want to hug a book when you are done with it? Rumor Has It is that kind of book. I just want to hug it and snuggle with it in bed for a while. This book just made me happy. Elizabeth Grace blew me away. It goes up there as one of the New Adult MUST READS. It is set up in what I am calling the classic new adult contemporary romance narration style. The books in the series can each be read as stand-alones, but the characters pop up in each of the books so you can check in on them. The book itself is told in dual narrative, with each chapter alternating between Ellie and Mason’s point of view. This is my favorite narrative style. I just love to peak around in guys heads during romance books.

Ellie and Mason do not disappoint. They are funny, sexy, caring, and best of all multi-faceted. I loved the depth that Elisabeth Grace woven into her writing and characters. Ellie is just adorable, and Mason has a tough exterior with an ooey gooey marshmallow center. Another favorite of mine. They are both so good, inside and out, but neither of them is perfect. Ellie is a stubborn little thing and Mason had a tendency to jump to conclusions and has trust issues. It was these imperfections that made you go from like to love with them. And they are just magic together.

Mason makes my list of book boyfriends. I just love how focused he was to Ellie. He would do anything for her. And it is so easy to see that he really is such a caring and giving soul. Yes, he has a cocky exterior, but after their initial meeting, it almost never came out to play again. Mason just seemed to real with Ellie.

Rumor Has It is a damn near perfect book, in my opinion. It has fantastic swoon-worthy characters that still manage to be extremely realistic. The writing is conversational and really makes you feel like the characters thoughts are your thoughts. I felt like I was inside the characters heads. It was fantastic. And the plot. Oh, the plot will make you not want to put the book down. At one point towards the end, I almost screamed out loud because of something that happened. This book has me completely invested in it. I can see myself revisiting Ellie and Mason time and time again. I can’t wait to read the next Limelight novel. If it is half as good as Rumor Has It, it will be great. If you like new adult, if you like romance, if you like contemporary or if you have never tried new adult, you need to read Rumor Has It. Just read the book- you will be thanking me later.

I don’t think I have read a new adult book, but Rumor Has It sounds like a great one to start with. Hopefully I’ll love this new genre! The title reminded me of the Adele song. 🙂

Yea this one was great. I think I remember seeing on your blog that you are kind of over new adult at the moment though, and this is very much a “classic” new adult. so maybe pick this one up if/when the new adult bug bites you again.

I really like New Adult, but there are so many books that are just about the “sexy” time. Which is great, but there needs to be a good plot to go along with that. This book has a great plot as well 😉

Hmm I can’t tell if you liked this one or not….lol! Your enthusiasm for this novel makes me think maybe I will try New Adult contemporary again. I can hardly pass on a book with such a glowing review! And yes, I know what you mean about books you want to hug, they don’t come often but when they do you never forget them.

Yey, so happy you loved it!
I read only the second one, Picture Perfect. Liked it a lot, but I think I’m sort of burned out on Contemporary Romance right now, sigh, so maybe I wasn’t in the right place to properly love it.
