Ten things you didn’t know about Why I Must Lie and M. M. Lake
The main character may seem like somewhat of a normal teen, but she belongs to a unique and divine species.
The love interest in the Why I Must Lie series is not a “bad boy”. Who said only bad boys could be alluring?
M. M. Lake laughs and cries when she writes, completely engrossed in the story-creating process. Is that normal? 🙂
The series has reached an audience from 12-70 years-old, as it’s been included in a middle school English project as well as a seniors’ book club.
Readers won’t be embarrassed to share the series, or their interest in the series, with their moms, nieces, or co-workers. Think PG.
Flying smack into a new existence, literally, sophomore high school student, Mia Frare, finds herself able to alter her body at will to that of a 3½-foot-tall bird. WHY I MUST LIE is a two week chronicle of Mia’s transformation and induction into a hidden spiritual world. While adapting to her new abilities, such as amplified hearing, acute eyesight, and what Mia refers to as, “freakishly strong feet”, she finds herself drawn to three other students in her overcrowded high school. Possessing supernatural talents of their own, Gabe and his two sisters befriend Mia and invite her along on their rescue missions. Although Mia’s growing closeness to Gabe poses difficulties he can’t ignore, it’s evident that the four are meant to join forces in averting tragedy and seeking the truth regarding Mia’s emergence
Why I Must Fight (Why I Must Lie #2) by M.M. Lake
M. M. Lake delivers the awaited sequel to Why I Must Lie.
Too anxious to wait another second, I went off on a rant. “Tell me what’s wrong with me! Why can’t guys kiss me? I’m not hormone-crazed. I just need to know!” I buried my head in my hands and wept. “Please tell me,” I muttered through sobs.
“Mia,” Sera said softly, “there is nothing wrong with you.”
“Right!” I shot back, startling her. “First with Gabe this afternoon.” Sera jerked her head toward her brother. “Then twice with Ken tonight.” I brushed the tears from my face.
Eva’s petite mouth curled slightly. “You’ve been busy today.”

Well that is an interesting span of readers…. I like that middleschoolers to seniors are reading it. Super heros are always fun and hey bad boys aren’t always the ones that get the girl!
