Summary(from Goodreads):

Welcome to the big leagues. To secrets and scandals. It’s all about the game. Who’s playing. Who’s not. Who has no idea about the game. And…wait, what game are we playing?
I’ll leave that for you to decide.
Where to start is the big question for Chloe Baker. How was she supposed to explain to Zack Warren that she started a fan club for him when she was a kid? It was just a game. A way to make friends and have fun. She never thought it would spiral out of control. And never. In a million, gazillion years, did she think it would follow her to college. How could she tell him her best friend Lana kept the club alive? That she had nothing to do with the craziness?
Chloe didn’t understand why she cared so much about Zack’s opinion of her. She hated him. He hated her. They had very mutual feelings of dislike for each other. So he’d just hate her even more when or if he found out.
And that’s totally fine…she thinks.
Zack Warren had a soft spot for Chloe Baker. He likes the way she walks. He likes the way she talks. If he was poetically inclined, he’d write a sonnet about her ass.
It’s Zack’s junior year of college. He’s got things to worry about. Scouts from the major leagues. Baseball games. Contracts. Grades…. His father ran away to Vegas with Chloe’s mother. He didn’t have time to worry about a girl. But he did. He worried about Chloe a lot, especially with that jerk Max sniffing around her. It’s weird though, to like your stepsister, right?
But Zack could argue that he saw Chloe first. Way before his dad met her mom. He was too young to stake a claim. But just didn’t care anymore.
He’s done playing games.

The Unofficial Zack Warren Fan Club is an addictive romance. It is such a good summer beach read. Light, fun and it has a very cute love story to boot. The underlying plot that the book starts off as is funny and kind of convoluted. There is a secret fan club, and two people that secretly like each other but now outwardly hate each other. Throw in the parents remarrying each other and you know that you will have plenty of antics to keep you entertained.

Zack Warren is hot and popular enough to warrant a fan club, but thinks he is so much more, or different, from the rumors. And you know what, he genuinely was different. I had my doubts, but he was actually a nice guy! He was protective, ambitious, driven and just a tad bit jealous. (but you know what? I actually like my book boyfriends to be a little bit jealous sometimes. It makes me tingly. If that sort of thing isn’t for you, I totally get that- but he wasn’t annoyingly caveman or anything like that. It was kind of adorable when he got jealous actually.)

Chloe is stubborn and also kind of adorable. I really like the two of them together. Their story is pure fun. I thought it was hilarious how worked up she gets about the fan club at the start of the book. It was also a pretty funny story. I love witty writing, and The Unofficial Zack Warren Fan Club. The only thing I didn’t like about the book was Chloe’s best friend, Lana. I couldn’t stand her. I didn’t think she added anything to the story except to annoy me. I didn’t think she was a good friend at all. But luckily, she isn’t in the story too much.

While the storyline is not completely original, the fan club idea throws a new twist into the mix and I really enjoyed that. I also really liked that this is going to be a series, where each book focuses on a different character. Up next is a real sweetie from this book, Zack’s friend, and I can’t wait to see what his story will be like. If you are looking for a great contemporary with witty characters, great writing, and and a sweet and sexy romance, you should definitely check out The Unofficial Zack Warren Fan Club!

    I’ll admit, between the title, the cover and the first few lines of the blurb, I thought this was for a young ya crowd. But it turns out it’s more New Adult, which I love. And your review really made me want to check it out. I’ve just added it to my tbr list. Thanks!

    This sounds so cute! I love that she creates a fan club for him. I think that is a neat twist. I hate how so many books lately have horrible friends. But at least she isn’t in it much. Glad to hear Zach is truly a good guy. Love the good guys!
