{Guest Post+G!veaway} Six Words for a Firestarter

August 2, 2012 Blog Tours, Giveaways, Guest Post 15

Today I have a guest post from the author of Arson, Estevan Vega. Thank you for being here today Estevan!

You can find the rest of the stops on the Arson tour HERE

Six Words for a Firestarter:

So I’m supposed to describe Arson in six words, huh?

Fire: C’mon. Admit it, we’ve all got a little bit a pyro in us. It’s such a unique and cool ability to have, but it would have its downsides as well, and I love playing with that chemistry.

Romance: Is there a YA book that doesn’t have love or romance? A good one, that is. You gotta have a couple you’re rooting for, otherwise, what’s the point of writing a YA book? Arson and Emery are two very different people who may have more in common than they realize. I think I’ve given readers a love they can root for.

Dysfunctional: Grandma Kay’s mind is everywhere and nowhere. Arson is a loner teenager with a strange ability he doesn’t fully understand and can’t fully control. Emery only feels “normal” when she’s hiding from the world behind her creepy mask. Joel Phoenix is an ex-minister turned alkie. Aimee Phoenix is an insecure nurse with extracurricular love interests. I mean the tagline of this novel really sums up everything: Dysfunctional is the new normal.

Masks: We all wear masks. We’re all hiding behind something or someone. The same rings true in my series. Everyone is hiding behind a mask. Emery’s just the only one who dares to wear hers in the physical world.

Intense: This story is not for the faint of heart. It goes deep into the hearts, minds, and souls of these characters. Some people aren’t ready for what they might find.

Redemption: But it’s not all doom and gloom. This story has heart. It has struggle. But it is going somewhere. As book one of a trilogy, it has to be going somewhere. And if by the end of the novel, you aren’t satisfied, feel free to send me hate mail.

Book description:

ARSON is the first book in a Young Adult Paranormal series. Book two, ASHES, is also available now.
ARSON GABLE FEELS LIKE A FREAK. HE CAN CREATE FIRE. HE NEVER ASKED FOR IT. HE NEVER WANTED IT. BUT HE CAN’T SHUT IT OFF.
Before now, three things were true: he both loved and despised his grandmother; his life was going nowhere; and he was alone. But when a strange girl–who feels more normal behind a mask than inside her own skin–moves in next door, Arson hopes to find something he’s never had: purpose. After years of living in fear, he will be forced to confront his haunting past and embrace the unknown as he walks the fine line between boy and monster. Edgy, realistic, and breathtaking, Arson, the chilling chronicle of an isolated teenager with unimaginable ability, is set to ignite the hearts and minds of a new generation.

Great post! I remember hearing about this book either last year or earlier this year – but with a different cover, I believe (one that freaked me out). Sounds like something I’d enjoy – deep, dark, and dysfunctional! ha.

This “favorite book” question is always so hard to answer, because, really, how do you choose just one?! So I’ll give you several 🙂 – Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and the Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. Yes, the whole series!

    Thanks again!
