Summary(from Goodreads):
Morganville is such a nice place to live… And die. If you don’t mind that sort of thing.
When Claire Danvers learnt that her college town was run by vampires, she did what any intelligent, self-preserving student would do: she applied for a transfer and stocked up on garlic. The transfer is no longer an option, but that garlic may come in handy.
Now Claire has pledged herself to Amelie, the most powerful vampire in town. The protection her contract secures does little to reassure her friends. All of a sudden, people are turning up dead, a stalker resurfaces from Claire’s past, and an ancient bloodsucker extends a chilling invitation for private lessons in his secluded home.
I am so happy that the series is grabbing my attention. I enjoyed the last book and I liked this one just as much! I love that Claire is uncovering some more secrets about the vampires, and along the way she gets to meet this really cool/scary/crazy vampire. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next with some of the “secrets” she found out about, and her continuing research. Claire belongs in a school/research lab and I think with the new developments she will be able to stay in one for a while. I loved that this happened! It should be interesting.
Ok, so now is when the mid-series review slump hits me. I have a hard time reviewing the in-between books in a longer series. Because I have already described the characters and talked about the ones I liked or disliked, so I don’t have as many things to gush or rant about. So all I will say is…Bring on the next book!

I haven’t read any of the books but I love the idea of all the different vamps and all the lore.
I have wanted to start this series but I have never been able to. This gives me the perfect chance. Thanks for the giveaway!
I have a ways to go to catch up to where this part of the series comes in because I haven’t started it yet. However, after reading this review I will know that things get more interesting with each volume. Thanks for the heads up!
I love finding new series to read thank you for posting this review, it is making me want to read them.
To be honest, I couldn’t look at your review yet because I haven’t read the beginning ones. I will before I get there.
Love these books so much. Thanks for the giveaway! Gale
Awesome I’m def gonna check this out!!
I love this series. I have to agree with you that I’m so happy that there is a new one out but what can you say when you are already addicted to the series. Thanks for the giveaway.
I’ve read this entire series and it’s awesome. I can’t wait for Black Dawn!
love this series!! cant wait for the next one!!!
It looks to be good….
I think it is normal that book reviews for middle of a long series reviews are shorter. You have already been introduced to most of the characters and so forth. The last book of a series will have a longer review as you discuss the overarching plot and its resolution. Anyway, I’m glad you are featuring these books. I still haven’t read them yet but plan to do so soon. Thanks for the chance to win!
This is a really great series and I would love to win the book! Thanks for the giveaway!
Thank you for the review. I have not started this series yet, but it is on my list to start. It is definitely more difficult to write ‘middle of the series’ reviews, because you don’t want to give too much away if someone has not read the books before it, and a lot of the details are covered in the beginning review. Thanks!
Michelle, I really can’t believe I haven’t read this series yet. I mean it’s about vampires in TX! What more convincing do I need? And the same thing happens to me when I review the middle books in a series. What more can you say than it’s a series that is still going strong. LOL
This series is on my list to get started on. I loved her Weather Warden series so I know it’ll be great.
I love this series and have it on my kindle…my daughter loves print books so I would love the chance to share it with her.
I was late coming to the Morganville Vampires but once I started I couldn’t stop. I read the first seven books in less than a week!
can’t wait to read this series!
Thank you for reminding me of this series. My sister convince me (not that it took a lot!) to read book one and I really enjoyed it. But that was back in Novemebr=er, and to honest I really forgot about them – whoops! So thanks for reminding of their existence and what ‘fun’ reads they are. 🙂
I have read the first four books in the series and I love it! This series is a real nail biter and once I start a book, I don’t want to put them down.
I haven’t read this series yet and i so want to! Thanks for the review =D
I’ve had this series on my list for ages, but I haven’t read any of them yet. I even joined a Morganville Vampire reading challenge for 2012, so I guess I’d better get in gear! haha. They sound great, thanks for the review, and a chance to win, Michelle! <3
