Marie Landry, Author
Today I have Marie Landry, the author of Blue Sky Days, here with us. It is such an honor to be a part of this tour for Marie’s debut book, Blue Sky Days. Not only is the book excellent but Marie is such a joy to talk to. She is an author, an excellent blogger, and so friendly. She is always out there commenting on other people’s blogs and she always has such nice things to say. Your kindness does not go unnoticed.

Guest post ~ You know what they say about making plans…
Hi everyone! It’s Emma Ward from Blue Sky Days. Marie and I would like to thank Michelle for having us here today so that I can share some of my thoughts with you. We hope you’re all having a beautiful blue sky day!
Have you ever heard that old expression? Make plans and God laughs. I never really understood it until I moved to Riverview to live with my aunt Daisy.
I spent years making plans for my future. Throughout high school, I studied hard and got good grades, all the while planning what I would do after graduation. I knew I could get into just about any school I wanted, so the plan was to apply everywhere, take my pick of schools, do just as well there as I did in high school, and then get a great, well-paying job. How boring is that? I mean, a lot of people make those same plans, sure, but do they also shut themselves away and not allow themselves a social life? No, they have friends and go to parties and make plans to have fun. My plans never included having fun.
Not until I lived with Aunt Daisy and met Nicholas, anyway. I could have allowed myself to get bogged down in regret over how I’d spent my teenage years—or more accurately, wasted my teenage years—but they didn’t let me. They helped me realize that life is what it is. You learn from your mistakes, accept that things don’t always work out the way you plan, and you go with it. There’s nothing wrong with making plans, but you can’t plan out your entire life and expect it to go the way you want. Life is unpredictable—it’s a rollercoaster ride of surprises and twists and turns, and all we can really do is hold on tight and enjoy the ride.
So things may not have worked out the way I’d planned, but life is better than I ever could have imagined. I never believed in fate or destiny before, but now I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. If I hadn’t moved to Riverview, I wouldn’t have met Nicholas or Sam or Maggie or Vince, and I can’t imagine my life without them now. They’ve taught me so many lessons about life, love, and friendship, and with their encouragement, I’ve learned to really live.
If I hadn’t come here, I never would have discovered a hidden talent that turned into a passion and a career. I also never would have discovered that I have unimaginable strength and courage that can get me through anything, as long as I have my family and friends by my side.
So go ahead and make plans. There’s nothing wrong with that. Just make sure you live a little, too. Or even better, live a lot. And remember that you don’t always have to have a plan—sometimes life steers you exactly where you’re meant to be.
