Summary (from Goodreads)

Alex Kosmitoras’s life has never been easy. The only other student who will talk to him is the school bully, his parents are dead-broke and insanely overprotective, and to complicate matters even more, he’s blind. Just when he thinks he’ll never have a shot at a normal life, a new girl from India moves into town. Simmi is smart, nice, and actually wants to be friends with Alex. Plus she smells like an Almond Joy bar. Yes, sophomore year might not be so bad after all.

Unfortunately, Alex is in store for another new arrival—an unexpected and often embarrassing ability to “see” the future. Try as he may, Alex is unable to ignore his visions, especially when they begin to suggest that Simmi is in danger. With the help of the mysterious psychic next door and new friends who come bearing gifts of their own, Alex must embark on a journey to change his future.

I really enjoyed Farsighted. I have been so into superpowers and books that center around them lately. This is a great addition to the genre. Farsighted is mysterious, suspenseful, intriguing, and action packed. It also doesn’t hurt that it is so well written. A great book overall.

Alex is an unlikely main character to have super powers and play the Hero. He is blind. He hasn’t had many friends and he doesn’t even know what is happening to him. But still, he is everything you would expect a great hero to be. He is brave, and loyal and does the right thing. He is really a great guy. I really felt for him with everything he had to go through. All the bullying and alienation. It must have been so tough. That’s why I was so very happy when he finally stood up for himself- even if it did get him in trouble.

What I liked the most about farsighted was how complex the book was. It just kept revealing new secrets to me. I thought I knew everything that was going on and then the book would peel back a new layer and there would be something new in the mix. It was a really engaging read. I loved that about it.

I really liked Simmi and Shapri. I think there are going to be many more great moments with them(plus alex) to come. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen here. I honestly have no idea what I even want to happen with them. I have been back and forth between the two girls a few times.

I can’t wait to see what is in store for everyone next. There are so many powers to be developed and so much more to learn about the characters. I particularly want to learn more about Alex’s dad and Dax.

Farsighted is a great book. It also has these cool runes and riddles at the start of each chapter. Im a sucker for riddles so I tried to figure each of them out before I read the chapters. It was a fun addition to the book. Farsighted stands well on its own, and yet it is also a great start to a series. I like that in a book. One that fits into a series but also is a complete book by itself.

4/5 Gavels.

  1. I can appreciate an author who loves to tell stories. They’re usually the most imaginative.

I’d love to hear what you think will happen with the Alex-Simmi-Shapri love triangle. You can bet I’m going to stretch that out for a while 😉 Love your gavel rating system too!

I’ve read some really great reviews for this book and it sounds interesting. I’m a big super powers person myself. It’s great that the MC s male as this is pretty rare.

  6. I also gave Farsighted a 4 out of 5 on my review. I enjoyed reading it and very much look forward to see who is telling the story next time and whether any of my guesses, hopes, and dreams, for the development of the characters come true! I came by to say ‘Hi’ from Jaclyn’s Musings! 😀

  7. I think what drew me most to this book was the fact that the main character is blind. That’s not something you see too often in books. The whole concept intrigues me, so I’m looking forward to reading it.

Thank you for the great review!
