Interview and Giveaway with Author Lynne Tolles(blog tour)

October 6, 2011 author post, Blog Tours, Giveaways, Interview 21

Today we are joined by Lynne Tolles, the author of the Blood Series.

1. In Twitter detail (140 characters or less) describe why people should read Bloodstone Heart. (feel free to elaborate more after your “tweet”)
Tweet – BsH is an interesting story that digs up vampiric history and brings new blood to the story while putting Rowan and Blake in leadership roles.
Wow…that was hard. Must have tried eight times to get it right. To elaborate, in the previous books Darby and Devon have been the main characters, taking leadership roles in whatever craziness occurs, but in Bloodstone Heart we move a couple months back in time giving the reader some intimate time getting to know Josh and Lanie and their plight.  About half way through the book you catch up with the end of Blood Lust and then the gang works together as a whole. It was fun to put Rowan and Blake in a new role and gives them something to do while feeling guilty about giving up on Darby’s plight to find Devon.
2. What have you found to be the hardest part of writing the Blood Series? (or any series in general)
Saying goodbye to the characters…I spent months agonizing over the last book thinking I couldn’t do it, but it was several fan letters that wanted desperately to know what happened that made me push through the tough time. I called it writer’s block, but it wasn’t really that at all. I knew what was going to happen and I had it mostly worked out in my head, but writing the words meant saying goodbye and I just drug my feet to do so.
3. Readers and writers of the paranormal/supernatural seem to love the month of October. What is your favorite part of the month?
Halloween of course.  I’m a maniac when it comes to Halloween.  I hunt for months for what I think are the coolest decorations and spend an entire day decorating for Halloween.  I would do it earlier, but we live near a high school and I had such cool decorations and pumpkins the kids would take them, so now I do everything the day of Halloween in prep for the night and then I get dressed have a beer and hand out candy. My husband is always amazed by how many compliments on the decorations we get even though he doesn’t like me taking up his man space in the garage with my ‘Stuff”.  I’m big on Christmas too, but not like Halloween!!!
4. What has been your favorite trend or theme you have noticed in books from 2011? You mean in books I’ve read? Well think it is very cool that more books are coming out about werewolves…Vampires are wonderful, but you gotta love the furry ones. I also like that there are some many independent authors out there peddling their wares.  My Lord, I’ve read some awesome indie books this year that if I had not been in the writing business I would have missed and that would have been a shame.
5. In Bloodstone Heart, Josh is telepathic. If you could have any supernatural ability, what would it be?
Well it wouldn’t be telepathic, that’s for sure…I’m pretty sure I don’t want to know what people are really thinking about me – yikes. Umm…teleporting would be awesome, but I think be able to do magic would be my preference.  Only because there are so many times that I’ve wished I could help someone and couldn’t. I think it would be wonderful to send a little magic to a friend, loved one or even a stranger.
6. I have been known to gush and have fangirl moments over my favorite authors. What author(s) would you turn into a fan girl if you met?
Do you have a couple of pages???? Well there are the authors I grew up loving: Anne Rice and Stephen King. It would be mind boggling to meet one of them.  I’d love to meet Jim Butcher. Love, Love, Love his Dresden Books (even mentioned one in Blood Lust). I would probably speak like an idiot if I ever met J. R. Rowlings, L.J. Smith or Ellen Schreiber. I’ve read EVERYTHING they’ve ever written and watch the Vampire Diaries and Secret Circle every Thursday. Love to meet Charlaine Harris too – I’ll admit I have not read the Sookie Stackhouse books but LOVE True Blood.
7. Would you like to add anything else?
Just that I’m very grateful to you for hosting my books tour and I look forward to talking with anyone who has any questions for me.
Thank you Lynne!

Bloodstone Heart (Blood Series, Book #4)

by T. Lynne Tolles

Tour Dates: October 3-16, 2011

Summary:

Josh Brenner is a good looking guy with an extraordinary talent he thinks is a curse – He’s telepathic and he can’t find the mute button, so he lives in solitude only coming out at night. But Josh isn’t the only supernatural out and about this cold March night, because when Josh returns from his midnight run to the store to avoid people, he runs smack into a hungry agitated vampire looking for something and Josh is in his way. Horrified by what he’s seen and barely escaping with his life, he confides in a woman he barely knows, but has an instant connection with. When another vampire shows up looking for the first, Josh and his friend Lanie find themselves running for their lives and head to Oljone, California where a friend of Lanie’s from College has helped her with a supernatural problem in the past. But when they get to California with the vampire hot on their trail, they find Darby, Lanie’s college pal, has moved to Massachusetts in search of her vampire boyfriend Devon. Luckily Darby’s sister Rowan and Devon’s vampire brother, Blake, step in and help Josh and Lanie as best they can. The four work together along with Dean (a werewolf) and his girlfriend Sally (a witch) to figure out this crazy mystery. What does this determined vampire want and why? And is he willing to kill for it? As this mystery unfolds, so do other darker mysteries. Will they figure things out in time before some is killed? You’ll just have to read it to see!
