Summary (from Goodreads)
Dorian Vlakhos is no ordinary aristocrat. He is a vampire king, who will do anything to save his clan from complete annihilation, before an ancient curse can claim his immortal life.

Penniless and orphaned, Victoria Kingston has nothing to bring to a marriage, yet she must shackle an unsuspecting gentleman into marriage by the end of the month or forfeit her rights as guardian of her younger sister. With the help of her dearest friend, Victoria begins her hunt, and vows to stay far away from the dark, mysterious, Prince Vlakhos.

After meeting the beautifully innocent Miss Kingston, Dorian had to have her. He would do absolutely anything to make Victoria his. One sweet stolen kiss would bring them together while a force, more powerful than any vampire would bind them for all eternity. But treachery, war, and death rule Dorian’s dark world and Victoria would be fortunate to survive.

My Review:

This book was good! I have been reading so much young adult lately, that reading this adult book was a nice change up for me. It was different from other vampire stories that I have read, and I really enjoyed this take on the creatures.

It was really interesting, and the story was the perfect length. It didn’t drag on and it wasn’t too short and it wasn’t too long. I loved Victoria, she was such a strong character, and Amanda Greene was so descriptive with everything. I experienced everything Victoria and Dorian were going through, right along with them.

Speaking of Dorian, He was so hot and awesome! I loved learning about his past and his kingdom. What took me by surprise though, was that he seemed so much gentler than the typical vampires that I have read about and imagined. There were a few moments in the story where his vampiric nature would shine through. But for the most part he seemed very controlled and human. For the most part, I really liked this about him. However; I would have also liked to see more of his vampire side, I think.

I also really liked that even though their relationship was very intimate for a good part of the book, it still took them a long time to say I love you to each other. This made it seem more realistic and not rushed at all.

This story was really great. Amanda Greene has such a way with description, which really made the story a joy to read. There were some very adult scenes so I might not recommend it for the younger YA audience.

  2. I love the review. This book sounds great, I`m glad it isn`t a book that drags on! It seems like it would be my kind of read. I like the fact you say that Dorian is a gentle man/vampire. I love the new cover compared to the old, it seems more romantic. I will be adding this to my must-reads on goodreads.
thanks for the chance to win on the blog hop 😉
