{Interview} Author Sarah Ashley Jones @sarahashjones

September 2, 2014 Interview, New Adult 3

Today I have Author Sarah Ashley Jones here for an interview. Sarah is the author of new adult contemporaries and fantasies. Check out some of her books below!

Interview

1. Which of your characters was the most fun to write and why? Which was the hardest?
Hmmm. I think the most fun I’ve had with a character so far is Hannah in Promise Me This. She’s the main character’s quirky, free-spirited best friend and she basically says whatever is on her mind as fast as she thinks it. She’s got a ton of one liners and weird comebacks that I always think in my head, but never say out loud. As for the hardest, I think that one has to go to Elias in Rebel Souls. He’s an Alpha by force, not by nature, so underneath is all he really cares about other people and it makes his brain a total chaos of right vs wrong all the time. It’s really hard to justify some of his actions sometimes because of it.
2. Do you have a favorite writing spot?
I have two! I either write from my bed or camp out at Panera until they kick me out!
3. What are some trends in New Adult that you are loving (or that you would like to see more of)?
I’m really loving the Alpha Female trend that is happening. Kendal Grey was the first person I saw use that term and it was like a light bulb for me because Claire (Rebel Souls) is totally an Alpha Female. I love a good kick-ass female character, but it’s the ones who fight with their brains that really just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Give me a wicked girl who will manipulate, lie, steal, and take what she wants all by her own accord without lifting a weapon. Yes PLEASE.
4. If we peeked under your bed, what would we find?
At this point, probably two sleeping puppies and whatever toy graveyard they have growing underneath there.
5. Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
Everything. Music is a huge muse for me, but I recently started browsing poetry and all it takes is a string of words to inspire an entire feeling or scene and sometimes even a book. I also always include little things that I’ve had happen to me in all of my books, so that’s fun for my friends and readers to try and guess which ones are mine.
6. What are some of the best books you have read this year?
OH. Let’s see….I read Tragic by JA Huss on the night I got home from IndieGirlCon and was up until 5am reading that! Also read all three Evolution Series books by S.A. Huchton in one sitting of a day and a half! They were THAT GOOD.
7. If we had an author talent show, what would your talent be?
As in like, personal talents? I can juggle. We had to learn in one of my college classes.

About the Author
I’m Sarah! I’m a total goofball. This is pretty much the most important thing to know about me. Just kidding! I may be an adult but I have the heart of a child. I know when to be serious but I’m a hard worker with serious control issues, and maybe a splash of wit and a side of sassy. I’m addicted to Coca-Cola, obsessed with cupcakes, and also a Chapstick hoarder.

When I’m not writing, I’m probably rounding up my crazy clan of four dogs or adventuring around town with my husband who encourages me to embrace me inner outdoors woman by fishing, camping, canoeing, and hiking.

I’m a huge nerd, so please feel free to send me a friends request, email, or leave a comment. I will jump for joy any time of of those things happen. I am blessed beyond belief with all the love and support I have received this past year and I thank all of you for that!

Great interview! I love that she can juggle. 😉 I agree, I am loving the alpha female role in NA lately, a very nice change to see for sure.
